It has been heartening to see the outpouring of shared grief and celebration of life for the late country musician Dolly Parton who passed away only a few weeks ago. We have already outlined what we think her charitable legacy is to you an here at The Purpose Brief, we could not think of a more purpose driven public figure who has had such impact on her place.
So we are very pleased to bring you a special edition episode on 09/25 to celebrate Give Like Dolly Day run by the Dollywood Foundation in aid of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. For over 31 years this scheme has delivered over 30,000,000 books to children in five countries across the world through scaleable partnerships.
In this episode, you will hear from Meg Fletcher, Regional Director, of the Dollywood Foundation UK about how this kind of impact is delivered and the idea behind Dolly's plan. It also includes a very heartfelt vote of thanks from a beneficiary of these books from Northern Lincolnshire. She is 7 years old and is called Penny.
The 25th September 2026 (9/25) marks the first annual Give Like Dolly Day, honouring Dolly Parton and her vision that all children grow up with access to books and building on work over recent years.
To celebrate #GiveLikeDollyDay you can donate directly a local Imagination Library Partner to help more children in their community receive books.
