Our Approach

Fresh thinking to power your purpose

The Purpose Brief is brought to you by Resolute Purpose with a mission to celebrate the impact of good citizens and leaders across their place. Our knowledge and community can help you scale social good, better through learning, insight and strategic services.

Prosperity is not just about economic growth it is also about exercising responsibility and building trust. And the future of social good rests with the ability of all sectors (for profit and voluntary and social enterprises) and the leaders within them, to be courageous enough to take the risk and help level the playing field through growth and positive engagement.

What is The Purpose Brief?

The Purpose Brief brings together place based impact and celebrates the stories and people of impact emerging across different sectors. Through blog briefings, podcasts and articles we seek out fresh thinking on projects that celebrate success and are having real impact in communities.

We discuss core themes such as the impact economy, social good, and generosity and philanthropy. We talk about the big disruptions such as technology, climate change and purpose driven leadership skills. Most importantly we celebrate the power of human agency for good.

This community is a thoughtful space to think about purpose and work in the social good space. Subscribers are good citizens, with backgrounds in professiona across sectors who are driven by purpose and creating more good things in the world.

Who Created This?

The Purpose Brief was founded by James Johnston, a trusted fundraising and engagement leader with experience of cross-sector working to deliver impact.

Through his strategic advisory work he is committed to bringing diverse voices to the table and he believes places can thrive if they unlock the social good around them through positive engagement and strong partnerships.

Through his career, James has led engagement programmes and fundraising at some of the UK's top universities; working globally to connect funders with opportunities that have made a big impact on individuals, academic research and place-based projects. He's worked extensively with a diverse set of sector leaders to deliver purpose-driven collaborations including work with small charities and local government.

The Importance of Place

Place really matters to us all: the identity, potential, and partnerships unique to every region are central to how we deliver social good together.

One thing that remains a constant in all our lives will be change, but how organisations you take their communities with them will be critical. We acknowledge that creating change for good means co-designing with your communities and landing on shared purpose. No one organisation can make an impact on their own and leaders must continue to step up.

With a base in North Yorkshire, in the North of England, we are happy to pop up anywhere you need us if our purpose resonates with you and you really want to do some good work alongside us.
